The design was derived from tintin comic front covers in the Ligne claire (clear line) style pioneered by Herg .
The Flammarion Engraving and ancient Gardens of Nineveh also have a huge presence in this piece, decorated with signature elements from Cecil Collins and Samuel Palmer. It depicts a man who has reached the edge of the firmament (a celestial barrier), a metaphorical illustration for the mystical quests for knowledge... or to represent a psychedelic experience.
