Full description

Ready to dress your windows with a professional flourish? Join me for a full day dedicated to learning how to make lined curtains using your sewing machine.

What We'll Cover:

Master the "maths" of measuring windows and calculating fabric quantities. Don't worry-I'll provide a handy guide to take home so you don't have to memorise the formulas!

Learn how to handle pattern repeats so your curtains line up beautifully.

Create a sample sized curtain while learning the essential construction skills you'll need to use each time you make them. This workshop gives you a practical blueprint to replicate for any window in your house.

This class is ideal if you are already comfortable using a sewing machine. No machine instruction is covered in this class so please only book if you can already use your machine without any help.

You will be supplied with furnishing fabric, lining fabric and header tape, the cost of which is included within your class fee. We will be making a single, small curtain to learn the construction techniques - it's unlikely this will fit any window in your home.

What to bring with you:

Your Sewing Kit: you need as a bare minimum - fabric scissors, good quality sharp pins (I advise glass headed pins, to avoid the risk of losing them in the curtain), a measuring tape and a full 250m minimum reel of all-purpose sewing thread in black and white.

Your sewing machine: including all accessories, cables and a pack each of size 80 and 90 sewing machine needles. If you can't bring your own machine, please let me know in advance - basic machines can be borrowed for the duration of the class, but I need to know in advance.

Please bring a packed lunch with you, one that doesn't require refrigeration or reheating. Hot drinks and biscuit snacks will be available all day. If you need non-dairy milks, please bring what you'll need with you for the day. I can offer fridge space for this but only this.
