Seaham sea glass ring in rare yellow size R 1/2 sterling silver.
This gorgeous juicy rare yellow sea glass was hand pick by myself on a day out in Seaham, I made the silver ring a double wave to hold the sea glass in its setting and give it pride of place.
The ring size is a generous R - R 1/2
The sea glass size is 1.2 cm x 1.1 cm at the widest places, the shape and markings on the sea glass are natural, taking many many years tumbling in the sea, after making the ring the sea glass was given a light wipe over with clear conditioning oil which can be easily removed if you like the rough frosted look.
The ring will arrive in a ring box, delivery is via royal mail special delivery, and will be delivered the day after dispatching, this will require a signature upon delivery.
The thing that makes Seaham sea glass so special is its origins. It comes from the remnants of a huge Victorian bottle factory that operated in the town until its closure in 1921. The factory discarded its waste into the sea which over time became tumbled by the waves to create the sea glass that is there today with its naturally frosted appearance.
UK law states that all sterling silver items for sale weighing 7.78g or over must be hallmarked by one of the four UK Assay Offices. It is illegal to sell any sterling silver items over this weight without a hallmark. This ring is under that weight, therefore does not require hallmarking.
