I have seen many inventive things made from whiskey barrel staves, including table lamps, so to make mine unique I’ve used the steel hoop from the barrel to brace the legs.

Full description
A rustic tripod table lamp made from a whiskey barrel. Using the lid notch in the three staves, I fixed a small triangular oak section, cut from another stave, with a brass bayonet cap (BC or B22) lampholder fitted with a switch and a shade ring so the lamp could be used with a shade of your choice (not supplied) or without. I selected a decorative ST64 shaped curly filament 4-Watt LED bulb to look good without a shade. One of the steel hoops from the barrel was cut into three short lengths to form braces screwed on with chunky screws to form a strong unit. The staves have been lightly sanded to smooth them but the marks of age and use - including the burning on the inside - have been left for an authentic rustic look. The wood was then Danish oiled to enhance and preserve. The steel hoop braces have had any loose rust removed before the whole assembly was treated with beeswax to stabilise and protect. Power is fed through 1.8 m/6ft of black fabric braided flex fitted with a black 3-amp fused UK plug. All electrical components are new, and the unit is safety tested and certified UKCA compliant.
