Inspired by woodland lichen, this delicate sterling silver brooch has been handcrafted using traditional silversmithing techniques, recycled sterling silver, 24ct gold foil and a moonstone gemstone. It would make a thoughtful gift for anyone who loves botanical jewellery, woodland-inspired design and nature's smaller wonders.
When walking through the Scottish woodlands, I am often fascinated by the way lichen creates miniature landscapes full of texture and detail. Much of its beauty goes unnoticed until you pause and look closely. I wanted this brooch to capture that same feeling, revealing its finer details gradually rather than making a bold statement at first glance.
The design centres around a textured lichen form containing smaller lichen shapes nestled within it. Selected details have been highlighted with 24ct gold foil, creating a gentle contrast against the silver, while a 4mm moonstone adds a soft, ethereal glow. A subtle patina has been applied to the main lichen shape to enhance the textures and depth of the piece.
Measurements:
- Brooch length: 25 mm
- Moonstone: 4mm diameter
Each brooch is individually handmade, making every piece unique while remaining true to the original design.
To help reduce unnecessary waste, you can choose either a gift box tied with ribbon or simple, carefully wrapped tissue paper packaging if a gift box is not required.
