I've wanted to make a beach bag for ages so, as a rainy day project, I sorted through my fabric collection and made a sample. The stripy fabric is leftover from making a curtain to hide my washing machine, and I used the block printed cotton to make cushion covers. The sample was snapped up straight away but now that I've come up with a template I shall make some more in different colours.

Perfect for Summer, this stripy beach bag is made from a remnant of Laura Ashley Heacham stripe fabric in cranberry and is lined with an Indian block print cotton fabric in shades of white, pink and green. The bag has two interior pockets and webbing straps. I have also 'boxed' the seams so it will stand up quite happily on its own when filled with all manner of paraphernalia for days out!
It measures approximately 44cm wide x 40cm deep and the straps are 56cm, which makes it easy to wear as a shoulder bag. I've tried to show it's size in relation to a magazine in the last photograph.
I made a sample bag, which was snapped up straight away, and have made this second one a tiny bit deeper. It is a one-off as the fabric is some I already had for other projects; the stripy fabric to make a washing machine skirt and the block print to make cushions, both are new and unwashed.
I had just enough fabric leftover to make a co-ordinating zip up pouch, measuring 30cm wide x 21cm deep. I would normally charge £10 for this, but if you would like to add this for £5, please choose this option at the checkout.
