Full description
A greetings card based on one of our 'Curious Creatures of Bracklesham Bay' series of images, on card and handmade paper. The groynes which we saw on Bracklesham and Wittering beaches had been shaped and sculpted into wonderful and intriguing forms by the actions on them over many years of the waves and tides.
For those unfamiliar with them, groynes are wooden structures placed on beaches to counter the erosion caused by those waves and tides. Instead, the erosion acts on the groynes to create these beautiful shapes.
The colour and shape of this groyne immediately brought to mind a giraffe - so that's what we made, just adding the neck, body and legs.
The photo of the groyne is printed onto handmade paper and added to the design on the card. The original photo is printed on the back of the card.
The card is 135mm square, and will be sent by second-class post.
