Introducing the Moss Monster, a friendly woodland spirit and a gentle protector of magical forests. Instead of being frightening, this charming creature is filled with curiosity. Its distinctive, grey-blue eyes peer out from a rich, textured mound of faux-moss, with each independent stalk looking in a completely different direction.

I made this whimsical guardian over many hours of careful work, using beautiful, natural wool fibres. To ensure the organic-looking stalks remain strong and durable, I have built them around sturdy internal armatures.

Needle felting is the process of using specially designed barbed needles to manipulate wool fibres into 3D objects, such as soft sculpture figurines, or into a solid fabric. It is quite a long process and patience is needed, but it is so absorbing and thoroughly enjoyable!
