The Purple Emperor is one of Britain's most spectacular butterflies. Big, bold, and with that gorgeous purple blue sheen, it has been making a real comeback at Knepp Estate in West Sussex, where the rewilding work has allowed sallow scrub to spread naturally across the land and it's the leaves of the sallow that the females lay their eggs on.

These butterfly plantstakes are handmade using the traditional copper foil technique and are cut, foiled and soldered by hand. The signature white bands and copper eyespot details are handpainted. The wings are set at a slight angle, so they look as though the butterfly has just landed on whatever plant you've put them in.

These regal butterfly plant stakes look stunning tucked into a houseplant, catching the light on a windowsill, but are also striking enough to also stand alone in a cute bud vase, perhaps with a dried flower arrangement or some herb stems.

A unique and thoughtful gift. I love the idea that years from now it will be sitting in a pot somewhere and whoever received it will still remember the person who chose it to them.

The butterfly has a wingspan of approximately 10cm and the plant stake is 30cm. The wire can be bent or cut to suit. Please select which colourway you would prefer, plum-purple, or blue-purple.

Each piece is made by hand and as such there will be subtle variations to each piece that will make your piece uniquely yours. They are carefully packaged in honeycomb packaging to ensure they arrive in perfect condition.
