My work is inspired by a smelting pot of nature, folklore and pagan ways as well as the Medieval and Celtic aesthetic synonymous with the Arts & Crafts movement.

Full description

Good morning Mr Magpie!

Magpie feather hand-crafted from a selection of beautiful stained glass using the Tiffany copper foil technique. Including a carefully curated mix of the highest quality wispy and textured fine art glass and finished with brushed pewter solder and wirework details. Ready to hang.

approx 2" x 8"

Magpie lore:

While many associate magpies as portents of misfortune ('One for sorrow...'), thanks to their contrasting plumage, they are more widely regarded around the world as symbols of balance and duality (often overlooked, the following line of the rhyme is '...Two for joy...'). The light and dark barring of their their feathers means they are commonly associated with divination enabling the one to converse with other realms; feathers symbolise the element of Air, and thus communication, adding to the dark superstitions surrounding these intelligent, talkative birds. Magpie feathers are also believed to bestow the bearer that which they are lacking or require (courage; good fortune; protection) and for this reason they make an excellent gift for a friend or as a talisman for a new home to feather your nest!
