I enjoy exploring origami tessellations, intricate repeating geometric patterns, and when I discovered the hydrangea tessellation I really liked the combination of geometric and figurative origami. This design uses a fractal tessellation, a repeating pattern that gets smaller and smaller towards the centre but it doesn't just look geometric, it also resembles the beautiful repeating petals of a hydrangea flower.

Full description
A hand-folded origami tessellation, made from a single sheet of soft pink patterned paper.
Tessellation folding is a different discipline to traditional origami — instead of building a single form, the same geometric pattern repeats across the sheet, interlocking fold by fold. The result is something closer to textile than sculpture: rhythmic, structured, and quietly mesmerising up close.
This piece uses a delicate pink hydrangea-patterned paper against a clean white background. The repeating folds catch the light differently depending on where you're standing, giving the artwork a gentle life that flat prints simply can't replicate.
Folded entirely by hand and presented in a 12cm square white box frame, it's ready to hang or display the moment it arrives.
