This toucan piece is part of my ongoing bird series, where I explore the character and spirit of different birds through wool.
For this one, I was drawn to the toucan’s boldness—the contrast of its oversized beak against its sleek body, and the way it seems both playful and quietly watchful at the same time. It felt like a celebration of colour and confidence, a little reminder to embrace brightness and stand out in your own way.
As I worked the fibres together, I focused less on perfect detail and more on capturing that lively presence—the balance between stillness and personality that birds seem to hold so effortlessly. Each layer became a way of building not just form, but feeling.
