This piece began with a memory of standing at the edge of the cliffs, where everything feels wide open and unhurried.
I wanted to capture that feeling rather than just the view—the soft hush of the sea below, the pale strength of the rock, and the way the sky seems to stretch endlessly above you. Working with wool felt felt like the most natural way to do that. The fibres move slowly, blending and settling in their own time, much like the gradual shaping of the coastline itself.
As I built up each layer, I found myself leaning into softness over detail—letting the textures suggest the landscape rather than define it too sharply. It became less about recreating a place, and more about holding onto a feeling of calm, space, and quiet reflection.
This piece is a small reminder of those expansive moments—of fresh air, steady ground, and the simple rhythm of nature.
