This piece began with the idea of capturing the warmth of candlelight in a way that felt both comforting and characterful. The dark‑orange glass was chosen for its deep, ember‑like glow — the colour of late‑evening sunsets, glowing coals, and warm autumn light. When illuminated, it creates a soft, inviting atmosphere that feels instantly homely.
The wire‑worked cat face grew from a desire to add a small moment of personality — something playful and expressive that would make the piece feel like a companion rather than just a container. Cats have a way of appearing in cosy corners, curling up near warm spots, and watching the world with quiet curiosity. This little wire‑cat echoes that feeling, turning the tealight holder into a tiny guardian of glow and warmth.
The cube shape keeps the design clean and modern, while the handmade details make it unmistakably personal. It’s a celebration of light, warmth, and the small creatures that make a home feel alive.
Safety information
This item is glass and therefore breakable. Please handle with care and secure the item to a fixed point. All edges have been ground to remove sharpness. Consider how you display the glass and that it is in a safe location away from wagging dog tails or small hands! Lead solder has been used but this is very low risk. However, I always wash my hands after handling to reduce the risk to zero.

Full description
This stained glass tealight holder is a glowing little cube of warmth, handmade using the Tiffany copper foil technique. Each of the four panels is crafted from rich, dark orange glass, chosen for the way it deepens and softens when lit from within. When a tealight flickers inside, the whole piece comes alive with amber light, casting gentle reflections across nearby surfaces.
The open topped cube is finished with a wire worked cat face on the front panel; a playful, hand shaped detail that gives the piece its own personality. The sturdy soldered seams and smooth edges make it suitable not only for tealights but also as a pen caddy, desk tidy, or small storage pot. Whether it sits on a desk, bedside table, or windowsill, it brings a cosy glow and a touch of handmade charm to any space.
Note: I only ever use battery powered tea lights in my holders and these give a great effect shinning through the metalwork face. The glass is a rich dark orange with streaks adding interest and texture.
The finished item measures approximately 8 cm high by 10 cm wide.
Please ensure that you place (and secure) your glass in a safe location; if the piece falls it is likely to break. The item is not a toy.
