This design began with the beautiful turquoise iridised glass used for the wings. The surface shifts gently in the light, creating a soft shimmer that suits the calm shape of a resting butterfly. The idea of placing it on a garden stake came from wanting to let the glass interact with sunlight and movement outdoors, while still keeping the piece delicate and handmade. Each butterfly is cut and assembled by hand, allowing the natural patterns in the glass to guide the final look.
Safety information
This item is glass and therefore breakable. Please handle with care and secure the item to a fixed point. All edges have been ground to remove sharpness. Consider how you display the glass and that it is in a safe location away from wagging dog tails or small hands! Lead solder has been used but this is very low risk. However, I always wash my hands after handling to reduce the risk to zero.

Full description
This stained glass butterfly is made from shimmering turquoise glass with soft white opaque areas that catch and reflect the light beautifully. It can be displayed on a garden stake of suitable strength, allowing the wings to glow in natural daylight.
Please take time to choose a stake that is strong enough to support the butterfly securely. The piece should not be left outside in poor weather, especially rain, as this may weaken the structure. It is also best to bring the butterfly indoors at night.
The butterfly is hand cut and crafted using the Tiffany foiled glass method. Each section of glass is edged with copper foil, soldered, cleaned and sometimes finished with a patina. Craft glass often contains tiny natural variations which make every piece original. Colours are shown as accurately as possible although screens may vary.
Please place and secure your glass in a safe position. If it falls it is likely to break. This item is not a toy.
