These bees began life as a set of outdoor garden lights. I loved the shape and structure, but after forgetting to bring them in before bad weather, the lights stopped working. Instead of throwing them away, I decided to repurpose them by giving them new wings made from stained glass. The moment I held the glass up to the light, the idea came alive — the translucent streaks shimmered just like real wings in flight.
Choosing the glass is now one of the most enjoyable parts of the process. Each sheet has its own tiny variations that create a sense of movement and life. The contrast between the solid metal frame and the glowing glass gives every bee a lively, characterful presence. The Tiffany method brings a slow, steady rhythm to the making, turning each bee into a small celebration of nature, light and the joy of giving something discarded a new purpose.

Full description
This listing is for one metal framed bumble bee with translucent stained glass wings. The wings are made from transparent craft glass with natural streaks and variations, and you can choose your preferred wing style from the drop down menu.
The finished bee measures around 7 cm in width and can be hung from the loop at the head. It looks lovely dangling from a branch in the summer or displayed in a bright window where the wings can catch the light. This piece should not be left outside in poor weather or during the colder months.
Each bee is made using the traditional Tiffany foiled glass method. Every wing is hand cut, edged with copper foil, soldered and cleaned, and the metal frame is shaped and finished by hand. Craft glass naturally contains tiny textures and patterns, making every bee unique. The colours in the photographs have been shown as faithfully as possible.
Please ensure that you place (and secure) your glass in a safe location; if the piece falls it is likely to break. The item is not a toy.
Price is for the glass item only.
Postage cost is for 48-hour, second class, small parcel, tracked delivery. Ordering multiple bees will be sent in the same package. Any unused postage costs will be refunded.
