Wear a piece of timeless earth and sky. These earrings hold an oak tree that stood years ago, now cradling a hand-cut opal moon.
About 5,000 years ago, an ancient oak tree fell into a peat bog. There, in the cold, anaerobic darkness, it underwent a miraculous transformation—not decaying, but hardening and darkening into gorgeous bog oak, frozen in time.
We often wonder: How did the sky look when this tree was growing? These earrings are my attempt to imagine that celestial moment.
The Earth: Each pair features a unique, thin slice of this genuine Ancient Bog Oak, sourced responsibly. Each grain pattern tells its own millennia-old story.
The Preservation: To ensure stability and a lasting finish, the wood is meticulously treated with Japanese Urushi lacquer. This traditional technique seals and protects the wood, giving it a deep, resonant luster.
The Sky: Nestled within the wood are hand-cut opal crescent moons, capturing the milky glow of a night sky. They are accented with sparkling CZ "stars" to complete the celestial scene.
The Build: Earrings are made of hypoallergenic sterling silver. Earrings are Lightweight and comfortable for all-day wear. Care: Gently wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid prolonged exposure to water, chemicals, or perfumes to preserve the urushi finish and opals.
