I am fascinated by the hidden conflicts within the wood. The black lines in this beech are the "battle lines" formed by fungi as they colonize the timber, creating a natural ink drawing that no human hand could replicate. I chose this piece for its sharp, graphic clarity. It reminds me of radar silhouettes and topographical maps, bridging the gap between the organic world and the precision of engineering.

Discover the extraordinary architecture of nature with "The Monochrome Series: Edition I." Hand-turned from beautifully Spalted Beech, this piece features dramatic, marble-like "zone lines" that create a high-contrast landscape against the pale, warm tones of the timber.
Every rotation of this sculpture reveals a new map of grain. The natural spalting process has left behind intricate, ink-like trails that wrap around the curves of the wood, creating a perfect blend of rustic character and contemporary minimalism.
Diameter: 195 mm (Approx 7.7 inches). Height: 65 mm.
To protect the incredible detail of the grain, the piece has been finished with a tactile, satin-sheen wax. Designed as a signature standalone sculpture for a mantle, entryway table, or as a focal point in a modern interior.
