A story from a bike ride along the Finnish seaside.
I discovered these bright daylilies while cycling along the Baltic Sea in Finland. They were growing wild and beautiful near the water. These flowers are actually edible, and I have enjoyed them in the past served in an elegant way: a fresh flower with a bit of foie gras mousse, a touch of caviar, and a pinch of Espelette. It was such a special culinary memory that I wanted to capture the feeling of those flowers in this frame.
This piece features real daylily and snapdragon petals from Finland. To create depth, the wood elements are lifted from the background, which creates soft, natural shadows. I also added gold leaf to catch the light, similar to how the sun hits the flowers in the wild. I work with eco-friendly materials out of respect for the nature that inspires me.
Size: 27x27x6 cm (Deep box frame).
Materials: Dried daylily and snapdragon petals, eco-friendly Finnish birch wood, gold leaf, and eco-label acrylic paint.
Natural Evolution: Because I use organic materials, the artwork will naturally evolve and change slightly over time.
