Thank you for popping into my shop! I’m a retired Graphic Designer, but thankfully I haven’t retired from being creative. I still love the process of making things, experimenting with colour, pattern and texture, and giving new life to all sorts of materials.
You’ll find a colourful and eclectic mix of handmade pieces in my shop, with birds and flowers featuring strongly throughout. I particularly enjoy combining unexpected materials, patterns and colours to create unique mixed-media pieces — so there’s always something a little different to discover.
I’m also a big believer in happy postage! If you find more than one item you’d like, I ALWAYS combine postage and refund any excess. I know it can be a little alarming to see the postage total increase as you add items to your basket, but please don’t worry. I’ll package your purchases together and refund the excess postage on the same day your order is dispatched.

A fleeting moment in a summer garden, captured in layers of colour, texture and stitch.
'A Sip of Nectar No. 2' is the second piece in the series, inspired by that lovely moment when a butterfly settles on a flower to take a sip of nectar. This pretty mixed-media artwork would make a thoughtful handmade gift for a gardener, nature lover, or anyone who enjoys the beauty of the natural world.
The background has been created using a wet-collage technique, combining layers of fabrics and papers in soft, harmonious shades of teal and peach. Some of the fabrics have been individually tinted with acrylic paints and inks, adding subtle variations of colour and creating a beautifully textured backdrop.
The butterfly has been carefully made from decoupage paper, which I've painted with inks and pastels to give it delicate colour and depth.
To bring a touch of movement to the piece, I've attached only the tops of the echinacea petals, allowing them to hang freely and giving the flower a wonderfully natural, almost three-dimensional appearance.
I've also fussy-cut and painted a couple of tiny flowers, stitching them into place with metallic embroidery threads. Together with a scattering of shimmering seed beads, these little details catch the light and add just the right amount of sparkle.
As with all my pieces, it's the combination of fabrics, paper, paint, stitch and tiny embellishments that makes this artwork unique-and there are plenty of little details to discover.
And if you're giving 'A Sip of Nectar No. 2' as a gift, I've also made a matching gift tag to accompany it.
The artwork comes in a white mount with aperture size 3.75 inches square and is in a good quality Nicola Spring 3D box frame which is 8 x 8 inches with a strut support on the back.
