Smokey Amethyst with Geothite .
Absolutely gorgeous hunk of Amethyst, which is basically a purple variant of Quartz. It features some sparkly geothite inclusions. Geothite is a ferric mineral (which is iron based), it was traditionally used to make the pigment ochre.
Collected from Cornwall.
Very special piece.
Made with Gold filled 18 K chain and findings. Gold filled is much more durable than plated, and with care should last just as long as pure gold (not that anything is pure gold, gold is a soft metal that has other metal added to it otherwise it would break).
Necklace is 24 inches long.
