The card design is one of a range of designs taken from my original oil paintings, created to commemorate the bravery of the aircrew in World War 2. 'We Fly to Freedom' - No. 86 Squadron Bristol Beaufort AW288 and crew: F/Sgt. J.C. Atkinson, P/O. F.S. Day, Sgt. C.R. Taylor, Sgt. J.O. Twelvetrees, Portreath, Cornwall, 24th July, 1942. I felt privileged to be asked to create this painting in memory of the four crew members of this 86 Squadron Coastal Command aircraft, which crashed shortly after take off from RAF Portreath, Cornwall. It is named after the Squadron's motto, AD LIBERTATEM VOLAMOUS, meaning "We Fly to Freedom", which they did so many times. I am really pleased to help perpetuate their remembrance through my artwork.
