Yemvelo 2 is part of my Yemvelo collection, named after the Zulu word meaning "of nature" or "natural". Inspired by the beauty of organic materials, this collection celebrates texture, balance and simplicity through a calming palette of jute, sisal, off-white cotton cord and beige braided yarn.
Handcrafted using cotton macramé cord, jute rope, mixed jute cord and cowrie shells, this contemporary fibre artwork combines bold diagonal bands with carefully layered textures and shell detailing. The contrasting stripes create movement across the design, while the neutral tones keep the overall look calm, tactile and timeless.
Each piece in this collection is individually designed and handcrafted only once. Once complete, the design is retired and will not be repeated, making Yemvelo 2 a truly one-of-a-kind piece of original fibre art.
Display it on its own as a focal point, as part of a gallery wall, or style it on a shelf, console or sideboard using a display stand. Its natural textures complement modern organic, Scandinavian, contemporary, bohemian and everyday interiors.
