I have included some production pictures which show a different pattern of rag rug but was on the same run as this rug - I make several rugs on the same warp as the warp takes a long time to set up. I really enjoy working on my Antique Loom making these wonderful rag rugs. When cutting the fabric, you never know how it is going to come out when it is finally put into the loom - so exciting.

Making these rag rugs is part of my way of giving back to the planet. Rag rugs were always part of history, the make do and mend. Historically cloth was always recycled and a lot of the time that recycling involved making rugs. I love being part of this history and living in an old weaving village makes it even more special.

Full description

There is an instinctive peace that comes from surrounding ourselves with the restorative colours of the natural world. Handwoven on a traditional loom, this Blue and Green striped rag rug weaves together cooling blues and grounding greens to bring a refreshing, organic harmony into your home.

The piece features carefully torn ribbons of upcycled cotton bed sheeting, alternating between dark forest tones, zesty lime green, delicate pale sky, and rich mid-blue, all anchored by a warm natural cream cotton warp. The rhythmic contrast of these varying bands gives the rug a wonderfully vibrant, tactile texture underfoot or underhand.

Measuring approximately 87 cm by 42 cm (34" x 16.5"), this versatile mat adapts easily to everyday living. Lay it beside your bed for a soothing step into each morning, place it in front of a sunny garden room doorway or kitchen counter, or drape it across a wooden sideboard or dining table as a rustic, botanical runner. Its sturdy, lightweight weave also makes it lovely folded in the car for an impromptu lawn picnic.

Crafted with an eco-conscious heart from rescued cotton textiles, it is fully machine washable on a gentle 30°C cycle (or hand-washed) and pegged out on the washing line to dry naturally in the breeze.
