The Short Grey and Red stripe is a bright rag rug, handwoven from upcycled cotton sheeting, acrylic yarn and a natural cotton warp. It has a 'Twill' pattern and a red stripe to give an extra 'pop' of colour. The reason it is called short is that I also made a longer one on the same warp as a table runner rag rug. Rag rugs are great in kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, wherever you wish to add a little comfort. I even use them outside in the summer to sit on. They are machine washable at low temperatures which make them really versatile, and, as they are using recycled textiles, great for the environment too. Approximate size: 74cm x 40cm (29" x 16") Either hand or machine wash at low temperature (30) and then pop over the line to dry. Free postage to UK Mainland.

I have included some production pictures which show a different pattern of rag rug but was on the same run as this rug - I make several rugs on the same warp as the warp takes a long time to set up. I really enjoy working on my Antique Loom making these wonderful rag rugs. When cutting the fabric, you never know how it is going to come out when it is finally put into the loom - so exciting. Making these rag rugs is part of my way of giving back to the planet. Rag rugs were always part of history, the make do and mend. Historically cloth was always recycled and a lot of the time that recycling involved making rugs. I love being part of this history and living in an old weaving village makes it even more special.
