Luxury Christmas Stocking - Purple Green Gold Crewel upcycled vintage zero waste

Sumptious Christmas Stocking that mixes traditional with modern. Handmade with reclaimed curtain samples, this purple and green toned stocking is in the Arts and Crafts style with large floral and fruit motifs, and trimmed with velvet and gold braid. An elegant design with a narrow ankle and foot, so save your larger gifts for the top of the stocking. One of a kind - each of my reclaimed textile Christmas Stockings are unique, and they each tell their own Zero Waste story. This stocking features a sample of the stunning Figs and Strawberries fabric from ILIV's Arts and Crafts Fabric Collection. Jacobean crewel style embroidery in rich colours - plums, purples and pink on a silky cream background. The deep purple velvet used for the mock cuff is from the same curtain sample book, and the gold upholstery braid is an offcut from making stage costumes - I used it to make Enjolras's military jacket for a local production of Les Miserables. The back of the stocking is another curtain sample - this time in a lime green and purple woven plaid to add more texture and contrast - and the lining is a purple floral print reclaimed from a vintage shirt. Lightly padded with cotton wadding and finished with a cream satin ribbon - all my scrap bag. Approximate size 44 cm by 30 cm, plus hanging ribbon.
