One of my very first projects in college, when I was 17, was a still life challenge and we were instructed to bring in some objects from home to work from. I diligently packed my satchel with a vase, a record, some CDs, some nice books...and I was so nervous about the challenge, I left my bag on the train! Panicked and with very little options between Glasgow Queen Street Station and the college, I didn't know what to do - so I ran into the first little shop I found, and grabbed a couple of boxes of heavily discounted French Fancies. Ever since then, drawing French Fancies has been such a joy to me. Not only are they delicious to eat afterwards, but they remind me every time I see them of that rainy day in Glasgow, when I ran into class late carrying several bashed up boxes of fondant fancies!
