About this item
This butterfly brooch is 33mm wide and 24mm deep. It fastens with a 20mm brooch pin that I have soldered to its back. I first decorated the working surface, firing a thin layer of white enamel on it. I then added a coat of enamel to the reverse surface. This balances the tensions in the piece as additional layers of enamel are added to the working surface. This done I added then fired a further four or five layers to working surface. That done I added the black edging to the wing tips and then the blue and red colours on the butterfly's wings.
