About this item
A greetings card version of the image that started the Curious Creatures of Bracklesham Bay series, in its simplest form. The series of images was inspired by the wonderful and absorbing shapes the wooden groynes along the beach had been worn into by the action of the waves and the tides. For those who don't know, a groyne is a wooden structure, a number of which are erected along the length of a beach to prevent erosion of the beach. The groyne's shape, geometric at the outset, is over the years transformed by the action of the waves into a more organic contour and in the groynes we saw a whole world of creatures, with the construction bolts, and the pebbles that become lodged in the wood, providing eyes, teeth and other details. Our additional illustration did the rest, and a Curious Creature came to life. The original, unaltered photo of the groyne is printed on the back of the card The card size is 13.5 cm, and will be sent via second-class post. Product code - 43-Shark/Po
