About this item
This spatula is made from sycamore wood, harvested sustainably near to where I live in Devon, England. I made this from scratch and entirely by hand with simple tools, starting with a split log and shaping the wood with axe before finishing it by knife and then soaking in walnut oil for a few days. I'm a keen cook and this is a shape of kitchen spoon I reach for every day when cooking. It's especially good for frying and stirring food during cooking. I tried to follow the grain of the wood when carving this one so the grain goes to the pointed end. I've deliberately left the knife marks in the bowl of the spoon, creating a texture contrast with the smoother handle. I've checked 'yes' to dishwasher safe and this is true, but personally I wouldn't put wooden spoons in the dishwasher as it will age them quickly and can cause splitting. This is a one-off item but I have others for sale and make more every week
