About this item
Inspired by the shifting patterns of the shoreline, I wanted this one-of-a-kind silver ring to echo the ripples left behind on the sand as the waves recede. Designed for those drawn to unusual jewellery and tactile surfaces. This ring began as a hand-carved wax model before being cast in recycled sterling silver using the ancient technique of lost wax casting. I then used the Japanese art of Chokin to apply tiny marks to the ring's surface, creating the feeling of waves and ripples. I've always been fascinated by surface detail. It's evidence of life, of time, touch and presence. As people, we respond to what feels lived in; texture is comfort. (Juhani Pallasmaa, The Eyes of the Skin.) The markings on this ring are inspired by our beach walks along the Scottish coast with The Wolf, where rough meets smooth, and where life is etched into the earth. Ring Details Recycled sterling silver This is a reasonably heavy ring, while it feels comfortable to wear, please do note that it is chunky Hand carved and cast using the lost wax casting method One of a kind Handmade in Scotland Hallmarked Ring size L Dimensions (approx): Width of face 16 mm, Height of face 29mm, band width 3mm Ready to ship Textured by hand using the Japanese art of chokin Darkened with liver or sulphur (will fade as the ring is worn) Full UK hallmark has been applied Packaging made from FSc certified cardboard. I had a technical payment issue and this seller was extremely helpful and went out of her way to help me. I am very grateful. The earrings are charming, as seconds they are different lengths but I know the recipient will like that. Thank you.
