Additional terms
Hand crafted Jewellery and framed artworks using pre loved and discarded ceramics. Ceramic material will show signs of wear and damage. Entire process is a creative experience from discovery to final picture, nothing planned or preconceived. All materials personally collected from river banks, charity shops, roadside, woods, recycle centres, beaches, wherever dropped, dumped or donated ceramics are found, cleaned and shaped into new stories. Each titled piece comes with bio of where the ceramic came from, known history, original information and when the artwork was created. Some ceramics collected are used as found, while others are cut randomly which will shape the final picture. Every piece is individual, nothing replicated, however, due to repetitive patterns in ceramics there will be some similarity but only through the ceramic material not in the final piece.

Walking beside The River Tees on a very cold but bright March morning I came across some ceramic washed up by the river.
One shard really stood out, white with a blue 'eye' like pattern. After a thorough clean I gently clipped the piece to form a round. Unsure what to do next I stored the shard and came across it 3 years later.
I decided to risk drilling a hole then gently hand sanded the back and side to smooth. The front glaze although slightly impaired came back to life with a few hours of hand polishing. I really love the effect the sea has on stones, rocks and mudlark finds, creating smooth surfaces, worn by time. I try to recreate this same feeling when I work on a piece and particularly like this pendant's finish and slight front curve.
Sealed with Eco Friendly Matt glaze. Front glaze in tact and catches the light.
The idea is to create something new from old. The finished piece isn't meant to be perfect or highly polished but instead retain part of the original character.
Measures 16 mm round x 2 mm.
Hanging on recycled 44 cm Sterling Silver rope chain.
Delivered in gift box made from FSC®-certified cardboard and water-based glue. Presented on Jewellery box insert made from tall oil, a by-product of paper production. Sustainable gifts, complete with short bio.
