About this item
This dainty scallop shell necklace has been handmade in recycled fine silver using a mould taken from a real seashell that I found whilst walking along the shoreline in Pembrokeshire, West Wales. It has been handcrafted using precious metal clay (a material made from recycled fine silver particles, binder, and water). When fired, the binder burns away, leaving solid fine silver. This pretty silver pendant has been polished to a high shine, allowing the scallop shell's delicate ridged texture to sparkle as it catches the light. A tiny piece of nature replicated in silver, to carry with you wherever you go, or a special gift for anyone who loves to be by the sea. MATERIALS & MEASUREMENTS - Recycled fine silver shell pendant with a sterling silver ring bail: 12mm wide x 15mm long (18mm long including the ring bail). - Recycled sterling silver curb chain which fastens with a bolt clasp: 40cm / 16 inches long. POSTAGE & PACKAGING This necklace will be carefully tissue-wrapped and presented in a recyclable gift box (with reusable insert). It will be shipped within 3 days of order via Royal Mail Tracked 24 postal service. GIFTING If your purchase is a gift and you would like me to include a handwritten note to the recipient, please write your message in the 'Note to Seller' box at the checkout. There is no added charge. A NOTE ABOUT HALLMARKING Under UK law, all silver items weighing over 7.78g must be hallmarked by one of the four UK assay offices. As this necklace falls under this weight, it is exempt and does not bear a hallmark. If you have any questions, feel free to send me a message using the 'Contact' button at the top of my shop page and I would be happy to help.

The beautiful beaches of Pembrokeshire, West Wales. I love the intricate texture of shells, finding them calming to turn over in my hands. This inspired me to create tiny replicas in silver, as a wearable reminder of being by the sea.
What buyers say about Rachel Zilpha Jewellery
Absolutely exquisite! As a maker I work with my hands and so sadly I'm unable to wear the beautiful bespoke ring my husband had made for me for our handfasting. For some time I've been looking for a piece, a 'taken token', that I can wear that is similarly imbued with meaning representing the bond between us and our families, mine from the UK, his from NZ. This little silver fern is absolutely perfect! The delicacy of the leaf detail is expertly offset by the contemporary pendant design and is finished beautifully. Rachel kindly switched out the chain for a longer trace style while ensuring the overall necklace remained balanced, the clasp staying at the back, and so it sits exactly where I want. I'm thrilled with my new jewellery and will definitely be buying more pieces in the future!
