About this item
I drew this on location in Brick Lane, London, some years ago, having been drawn to the mannequins (which had a 1960's feel to them, mostly because of their hairstyles) and the beautiful saris that they were modelling. It has always been one of my favourite drawings. Recently, once I had decided to offer this for sale, I lightly smudged in a small amount of chalk pastel to the background, ensuring not to take away from the spontaneity and subtlety of the drawing. It has a lovely warm glow, due to the colour scheme and the yellow I had laid down with watercolour pencil before I started. The materials I used to create this drawing are: watercolour pencil, pencil and chalk pastel. As you can see, the drawing has a few little marks on it here and there, as it was drawn on location, in a large sketchbook! This all adds to the authenticity, charm and immediacy of the drawing. The size of this piece is 28.5cm by 42cm. I can sign it on the front or the back, whichever you prefer. This will be sent Tracked (as well as to be signed for, wherever possible)!
