Currently mined in Madagascar, the peach variety of moonstone gets its colour due to the high aluminium content in its chemical makeup. This stone is associated with rejuvenation and new beginnings. Selenite’s name is derived from the Greek for ‘moon’ due to its silvery white appearance. It forms in the shape of rods, most famously in the Naica Mine in Chihuahua, Mexico where over millions of years some have grown to the height of several storey buildings. These particular stones are from Morocco and are a mix of the natural white plus a pale peach colour that really show the way light reflects like satin inside the stone. Selenite is thought to be the stone of ‘white light’, helping to cleanse and absorb negative energies.
