About this item
Celebrate "Spooky Season" and the vibrant colours of autumn with this beautiful and oh so squishy crochet pumpkin decoration! Arranged on your coffee or dining table, these pumpkins will add some seasonal and boho style to your home decor. These pumpkins are made from pure lambswool from West Yorkshire and stuffed with a combination of recycled toy filling and leftover scraps of yarn and fabric from my makes! For added colour I have added a crocheted spiral made from dark green acrylic yarn to represent the vine. A cinnamon stick stands in for the stalk and provides a subtle fragrance. For this reason, these pumpkins are not suitable for anyone with a cinnamon allergy and should be displayed out of the reach of small children and animals. The Lowdown: Dimensions: height approx 12 cm. Circumference approx 60 cm. Surface clean with a damp cloth only. Not to be used as a toy.

The tradition of carving Jack o' lanterns travelled to North America with Irish settlers. In Ireland, lanterns were carved out of turnips to ward off Stingy Jack, a character doomed to wander the earth for all eternity for trying to trick the devil. On discovering that the bright orange squashes native to the New World were far easier to carve than turnips, pumpkins soon became the material of choice. With the prevalence of American pop culture, by the 1980s the tradition of Jack o' lanterns had travelled back to the British Isles, and pumpkins have been associated with Halloween there ever since.

I wanted a colour that Alex had run out of, so she set to and knitted me a scarf specially, within a week. It made a unique and special Christmas gift. Thank you Alex
