This journal is covered with gorgeous Italian Softee Leather in Spearmint blue/green. The pages are gorgeous, heavy-weight watercolour art paper, so it can be used for journaling or sketching … or both! The book was bound with French link stitch on tapes, a medieval bookbinding technique that revolutionised how books were bound in French monasteries. This method creates a book whose spines are strong and flexible, and also incredibly beautiful, even before the covers are put on. (Thank you to my teacher, Moneeza Khan, for the background information!) The fore edges of the book are decorated with lovely gold ink mixed with Gouache paint and gold leaf. There is a hand-dyed silk bookmark stitched into the book. The endpapers are a gorgeous William Morris print. The book measures 6.5 inches by 5.25 inches. There are a lot of pages, the book is over an inch thick, and I think that this will become a beloved companion to whichever lucky person receives it.
