About this item
Each dainty gemstone earring features a trio of white Moonstone nuggets topped with a trio of genuine Sapphire rondelles, separated by 1.8m sterling silver spacers. The largest of the A grade Moonstone nuggets measures approximately 12x8x3mm, and the Sapphire rondelles approximately 4x2mm. The beads are threaded onto sterling silver pins and hung from sterling silver ear-wires. Handmade in my home workshop here in beautiful Devon in the UK, these would make a lovely gift for a birthday, anniversary or as a treat for yourself. Sapphire and Moonstone are birthstones for September, so this would be particularly suitable for someone born in that month. These earrings measure approximately 1 inches (2.5cm), excluding the ear-wires. Your earrings will be wrapped in tissue and presented in a small organza gift bag. Price includes delivery within mainland UK.

We generally associate Sapphire with blue, but actually this form of the mineral Corundum can be found in all the colours of the rainbow. All except red Corundum are called Sapphire - the red version is known as Ruby. Sapphire is associated with truth, justice and divine protection. Sapphire is a birthstone for September and Virgo. Moonstone is also a birthstone for September and Virgo. In Hindu mythology, moonstone was thought to be solidified moonbeams. In ancient Rome, the stone was linked to the Moon Goddess Diana and was thought to bring love, wealth and success. Moonstone is one of India's traditional wedding gifts, and is thought to bring luck in love, so these would be perfect for a wedding, especially as the Sapphires provide 'something blue'! Many ancient cultures associated the stone with the moon - when light strikes moonstone, a phenomenon called 'adularescence' can be seen, a shimmer which looks very like moonlight shining through thin clouds.
