About this item
Spanish sardines limited edition linocut print entitled “Mercado dos Lavradores”, which is a market in Madeira where I took the photo of fish on ice this print is based on. This print is 33cm x 38cm sized with a printed area of 20cm x 25.2cm. Each design is created using hand carved plate of traditional lino, carved with specialist tools and printed with a hand held barren, using Hawthorn Printmakers oil based inks onto 80 gsm Japanese Washi paper. Every print is unique and completely individual due to its handmade nature. It's always so satisfying peeling back to paper to reveal to final print. Sold unframed and unmounted. Best wishes, Carrie xx This printed will be rolled and places in a postage tube, then sent tracked. Copyright of this print is retained by the Carrie Lyall Printmaker, and may not be reproduced in any way.

I took this photo years ago, and it’s been sitting looking at me for ages waiting for become a piece of art. So I finally carved a design based on the original photo of some Spanish sardines on ice at the Mercado dos Lavradores, Funchal, Madeira. It’s so detailed and I love the stylisation of the ice as that’s something so different for me to tackle, but I really enjoyed it.
