Bookmark - Tropical Coral Reef Fish fabric, backed with wool felt

Tropical fish bookmark - a lovely little gift for sealife lovers of all ages. Small enough to post with a card, or you could pop in with a book gift for a special occasion. Practical and beautiful, my handmade bookmarks are very tactile - made from quality quilting cottons and pure wool felt. My zero-waste, sustainable approach to crafting means I try to use every piece of fabric left from cutting out my large makes. Soft and pliable - this bookmark has no card, so it won't be damaged by bending. I carefully cut fabric strips from my scraps, and securely machine-stitched them to a felt backing with a tiny blanket stitch to catch in the raw edges. Using coordinated threads adds extra detail and texture to both sides of the bookmark. The bookmark uses a beautiful fabric called Aquatic Paradise by Dashwood, and features tropical fish swimming in and above a bright coral reef. I chose to offset it with a bright sea-blue aqua felt.
