HANDMADE STATEMENT NECKLACE I made this long necklace using two textile techniques. The pendant consists of two Dorset buttons worked in green and purple cotton thread on metal rings, embellished with multicolour beads and a ring covered in the purple thread. I made the braid from which the pendant hangs using the Japanese Kumihimo braiding technique, using the same colours of cotton thread. There is no fastening as the necklace is designed to simply pass over the head. I have used a nickel-free silver plated cord end to attach the braid to the top button. This would make a great Mothers' Day or birthday gift. Dimensions - Inner circumference of necklace - 24" (61 cm) Total height of pendant inc. tassel - 3.25" (8.25cm) I can make similar necklaces in different colours.
