About this item
This lovely bookmark is the perfect gift for the book-loving special someone in your life. The solid silver bee was cast in Delft clay and the stem has been planished to give a subtle, reflective appearance when resting on the page. The bee symbolises wisdom, birth and rebirth. In European folklore, bees were meant to be told about important family events so they would stay happy in their hives. This makes the bookmark a particularly appropriate gift to mark the arrival of a new baby, to celebrate a retirement or to gift to a teacher. As the bookmark is entirely handmade with hand tools, it bears the honesty marks of such craftsmanship and will not have the immaculate finish you would see from a High Street object. This is because mass produced items are designed to be the same every time and are factory-finished with industrial machines. With this bookmark, you are buying something that is truly unique which honours the time and talent that has gone into creating it. The bookmark will be fully gift wrapped in a black corrugated card pillow box with a Designs from the Gatehouse gift tag. Dimensions: 12.5cm long, 2.5cm wide (the bee), bookmark stem is 0.5cm wide. Postage by Royal Mail 2nd class (signed for) is included in the price.
