The wild British bluebell fills our ancient woodlands with bands of rich blue and heavenly scent in May. Almost half of the world's bluebells are found in the UK and preserving their habitat and resrticting cross breeding with non native species has become increasingly important. I grew up 'bringing in the May' by washing our faces in dew and wearing bluebells in our hair to the early May Morning festivities in Oxford. A very special flower.
