Linocut Print - "Bluebell"

"Bluebell" is created using the relief printmaking method of linocut printing. As each print is created by hand there may be tiny variations which add to the individual beauty of each original artwork. "Bluebell" (2) is printed onto Okawara Select 51gsm printmaking paper from Awagami Factory in Japan. Linocut is a relief printmaking process where an image is transferred or drawn directly in reverse onto the lino block. It is then carved using mainly U and V shaped gouges into the surface of the lino. Ink is then applied to the block and paper laid onto the inked surface. The paper is then hand burnished or pressed and the print lifted from the block.
