Handmade Ceramic Calon Cariad Heart brooch

This pretty little heart brooch has 'Cariad', (the Welsh word for sweetheart) stamped into the wet clay, along with a flower design. I have painted the design with a soft blue. As with all my jewellery it is made and decorated entirely by hand. After forming my brooches from fine white clay, I imprint my design. When dry, I sand the sides of the brooch and round off the edges to ensure they are super smooth. They then have their first firing. Next I paint them using under-glazes and apply a transparent glaze before firing again to earthenware. Being glazed on the top and sides they are smooth to touch whilst retaining the texture of the imprinted design. The result is a pleasantly tactile item. This is a one-off listing, the pendant in the photographs is the actual one you will receive. The brooch is 25mm (about an inch) long and the same across the widest part. All my jewellery comes in an attractive eco-friendly box. Matching items are available, if nothing is currently listed just ask.
