About this item
A pack of 4 cards each featuring the same image - a cartoon chick in a santa hat hatching from a blue and white pysanka (a traditional Ukrainian decorated egg). The egg is decorated with snowy patterns and the chick has taken on the same design as the egg. As this card features a wintery interpretation of a Ukrainian egg, it could be given as a card for Ukrainian Christmas, which was traditionally celebrated on 6th January (Orthodox Christmas Eve). The original winter pysanka design by Kim Onyskiw is printed on 12.5cm (approx 5") square ivory cards, and comes with matching ivory envelopes. The inside of the cards are blank inside for your own message. These cards are seconds, so have a cheaper price than my others, as they're printed on my old cardstock, from before I switched to using recycled card. If sold, 50% of the item price of this card will be donated to AUGB's Help Ukraine fund.

Inspired by the Ukrainian tradition of pysanky - decorated eggs. Imagining what it would be like if these eggs weren't decorated by hand but were laid by beautiful birds, with the eggs hatching into birds that take on the pattern of their egg. This little pysanka chick is a winter bird, it's egg with a snowflake pattern in cold blues and whites.
