About this item
Sepia vintage inspired suit painting comprises a fur trimmed long line jacket over a cream waistcoat and pale blue blouse. It is teamed with and check skirt of blue and brown. The outfit is displayed on a tailor's dummy and there is a sepia coloured bag at the base of the dummy. The dark brown decorative scroll-work border includes hidden handbags, coffee cups and floral detail. I painted this in my Norfolk studio, it is mounted, simply framed in lime-washed wood and ready for you to hang. The overall measurements are 45cm x 43.5cm and the internal image is 28cm square. Do you like the elegant look, maybe a slight 'steampunk' vibe. I call this one Sepia Suit III'.

I have a background in fashion and textiles and I do love vintage fashion so what could be better. This outfit is not technically very vintage inspired but maybe a little 'steampunk' is creeping in there. I do love steampunk as well. Oh all my fav things at once, bliss! Anyway I had a great time with the design process, making sure there was a balanced left and right facing image. I liked the border so much I have extended it to reach the handbag. My inspiration for the border is the fantastic Aubrey Beardsley, brilliant and controversial artist from the Art Nouveau movement.
