Description

An original painting featuring 5 poppy stems, 2 buds and 2 seed pods which are floating in a misty watercolour background. The painting has been created at my Norfolk studio and I have used gouache for depth and texture on the papery poppy petals. Watercolour enables the detail and shadow. A cream background has misty hints of the pinks and greys within the painting which continues around the sides. The painting is horizontal and measures 70cs x 50cm x 4cm. It is ready for you to hang. I hope the combination of the warm tones works for your space. I have called this one 'Poppies in the Mist I'.

Poppies are a traditional flower of Norfolk where I live. There is even a vintage railway line called the Poppy Line in Sherringham on the coast, part of it's route is through fields of them. I have made many sketches of these flowers over the years so I can dip into one of my sketch books anytime I need to. Using a canvas causes me to paint in a more free style which is always fun. I like separating the stems out individually across the canvas for a change too.
