Red Fused Glass Candle Cage

This beautiful candle cage has been made from 49 individually hand cut pieces of glass arranged into their pattern and fired twice in a specialist glass kiln. The first 12 hour firing fused all the pieces into one, at 800 degrees Celsius before slowly cooling to room temperature. The second 12 hour fire saw the flat solid piece drape over a vase mould to pull in all the fingers into the stems, closing the shape into a cage. Each firing included an annealing process to control the cooling of the glass so it doesn’t suffer thermal shock, and shatter at a later time out of the kiln. It measures approximately 100mm tall and 90mm wide and can hold the large tea light candles as seen in the image. It also looks amazing with a set of string lights stuffed inside, making the colours sparkle and radiate. These can be made to order with your own colour choices. Please contact me direct.
