About this item
A lapwing reels across a windy sky in its desolate moorland home. This lino print is inspired by Emily Brontë's novel Wuthering Heights in which there's imagery of Cathy as a lapwing. I carved this during the first lockdown when I craved being in wild open spaces. It was used in Manchester Art Gallery's branding for the Emily Williamson Festival 2021 (Emily is the founder of RSPB). A colour version was also published in the British Trust for Ornithology's book 'Into The Red' (2022). This was chosen as Book of the Month by BBC Wildlife magazine. The print measures approximately 30.5cm x 40cm and is printed on an antique Columbian Press in water based ink on Zerkall print paper measuring around 38cm x 51cm. It will be sent carefully rolled in tissue inside a cardboard tube (please message me if you'd rather it to be sent flat). It would make a delightful present for any bird lover or Brontë fan.
